Great Past Lives Memories workshop

This officially counts as my second of 24+ workshops this year. Past Lives Memories was a great success! Three people attended, and it is the first time I actually turned a profit on a workshop. (Previously I have lost money on room or materials or both.)

The workshop went really well and I got good feedback from the participants. Special thanks to everyone for attending!

New Year + New Decade, leading 24 workshops in 2020

My goal for 2020 is to lead at least 24 workshops. Two per month should be doable, right?

I currently have 4 different workshops available. Three are very clearly in the same genre, though they may not seem that way from the outside.

  1. Barefoot Walkshops. This is where it all started, when my student Yuna took off her shoes during our walk before my first eye gazing workshop. The idea is simple: take off your shoes and walk around outside! This allows the nerves in the feet to get some much needed stimuli, especially if they have been cooped up in shoes all the time!

  2. Eye Gazing. Perhaps this is where it all started, when my friend, life coach Rin, asked me what workshop would be most exciting for me to lead. It took a while to come up with the answer, but when it came, it was like BINGO this is it! The idea is simple: sit with a partner and look into their eyes. Just breathe. No need to say something witty. Just be present with what comes up for you.

  3. Shadow Work® practice. In October 2019, I took the 8 day Basic Facilitator Training for Shadow Work® in Sugar Land, Texas. From their website, https://shadowwork.com/

Shadow Work® is a way of transforming parts of your character that you’d like to change with compassion and understanding, and offers an effective technology for balancing these diverse parts.

Along with facilitator Mark Wild, I led one Shadow Work® practice workshop in December 2019, and plan to do more.

The above three workshops are all designed to bring awareness to the participants. Physical awareness of the body starting with the feet, mental and emotional awareness through the eyes, and inner awareness of our inner voices.

  1. Past Life Memories workshops allow participants to experience a grander world that they may find familiar. I lead participants on a guided meditation which reconnects them to a familiar place. I keep the wording loose enough to have exploration, and clear enough to provide guidance. Participants have a chance to reflect and write about what they noticed during the meditations.

Coming up in January, I plan to lead a barefoot walkshop on January 11th, and a past life memories workshop on January 13th. I will likely lead a coffee and chat workshop with Yuna on January 25th. In February, I have planned an eye gazing workshop for February 23rd.

Currently I am using Facebook and Meetup for my events:

Also planned for, let’s say, the first quarter of 2020: a more comprehensive website, featuring a schedule of events! https://www.robnugen.com/ currently has my blog and my journal. I want to add pages for Schedule, Contact, About, and maybe other pages.

Everyone is faking it

Ever feel like you don’t know how to do something? Or feel like everyone else knows what they are doing? I feel like that sometimes, and I have a secret to share. Everyone feels that way sometimes.

I was just listening to stories told by my mom and her sister. They told us stuff I never knew about their parents, my grandparents, “Granddad and Monner”

In particular how strict Granddad was. He apparently told Madeleiene “once I figured out how to be a father, you all had grown up.”

Granddad was great for me and my brother, but he didn’t have everything figured out when he was raising his kids.

Just do your best, take time for yourself when you can, and that’s enough.

Eye Gazing benefits

eye gazing benefits

There is an ancient practice known as eye-gazing, whereby two participants stare into each other’s eyes for an extended period of time. When eye contact between two people is initiated and maintained, an invisible energetic circuit is established which is known to induce euphoria, visions, past life experiences, and even remote viewing. From here it is possible to reach higher states of consciousness. The saying ‘eyes are the window to the soul’ has much more meaning than we may realize.

Guided by Goodness

Today I saw a woman feeling frustrated with a small child crying. She was griping at him as he was crying.

I watched for a bit from a distance as she was like しょうがない!ママ 一人からしょうがない!(It’s too bad! I’m alone, so too bad!)

I sighed and walked away. I could hear him crying so I turned back, praying for some insight on how to help. I saw her riding the bicycle, but then she stopped and got off to engage the boy again. I found myself walking toward them.

I put my bag to one side and gently walked up to her. I put my hand between her and the child in his bicycle seat.

I invited her to breathe, and I just held her with my eyes. I reached out and held her hands for a bit. I hugged her and she seemed appreciative.

After about 30+ seconds of hug, I reached my hand back and gently touched the (coat sleeve) wrist of the boy, who was still crying.

After a bit, I held both of their hands at the same time, intending to act as an interface to help them reconnect.

I said in Japanese 私の日本語は下手ですけど、怒ってることを聞こえます。 (my Japanese is bad, but I can listen to your anger.) In English I said “I can handle it. He is very small.”

I gave her my card and invited her to bring her anger to me.

I hope I helped her reconnect with her goodness as a parent.

Great first ShadowWork practice

I facilitated my first ShadowWork practice workshop on Sunday. I judge it was a success!

Mark helped me facilitate after going through a training with me.

Five men attended, and two got to do work in the circle. The first man said he got what he needed, and the second said it was deeper than expected.

Great to see real raw emotions and see men receive heartfelt support and love.

Seasonal depression, who me??

I hate winter.

There. I said it. I hate the cold weather, dry air.

But mostly I hate the shorter days!

I have always thought it was weird that sunlight could affect people’s mood, and yet, I love the sun. My favorite day of the year is summer solstice. If only I could have that much sun every day!!!

In October, I planned and posted three (3) workshops which I led in November. In November, I enjoyed the workshops, but could not quite get my brain around posting more.

Now it’s mid December and I am like wth happened and just counting the days until the daylight hours start increasing again.

Today in my peer counseling group, I explored this idea that I have not been doing the right things, even though, strictly speaking, the things I have done are great! I went to Japanese class; I created art; I worked on my website.

“It’s just like the day is gone so quickly,” I said, and it hit me. Maybe I am affected by the lack of sunlight in winter.

So, what can I do to change my state?

I can Be Okay with hibernating this month. Just create art and enjoy the process. In the next week, I will post another Past Life Memories workshop, another eye gazing workshop.. to be held in early 2020.

Looking forward to seeing you all then!

How to prepare for a bigger than normal event

This simple technique really works and I have anecdotal scientific proof to prove it.

Step 1: make a list of things to do

The first thing to do is make a list of what you have to do, but START THE LIST LONG BEFORE the event!

Today I am headed to the airport for a little trip to see friends, learn some stuff, and hang out with Lin. I started writing my packing list about 2 weeks ago.

In prepping for this day, I started writing a TO DO list a few days ago.

Last night and this morning, I have smoothly prepped, packed, meditated, and even had enough extra time to chat with some of my peeps online.

How it works:

Barbara Oakley’s course Learning How to Learn talked about the pomodoro technique, which is based on the fact that our brains need some time to chill out between times of working hard.

Allowing a couple of weeks to make the list allows the brain to work at its prime, creating and finding connections between apparently disparate objects or experiences.

The idea of slowly compiling a list reminds me in ways of GTD, Getting Things Done, which suggests we have One Single List of things to do, and then we just smoothly and easily go through the list while not having to keep a lot of stuff in mind.

I can choose to do anything (and no one really cares)

So long as I do stuff within a normalized range, no one really cares what I do.

I can spend all day trying to figure out one bug, or ignore it. No one will know the difference. I could even quit my job, and just a few people will notice. (some people very much so, but 99+% will not)

Re-reading the above sounds like I am suicidal, but I am not. My point is quite exactly the opposite.

I can wear shoes or not, and no one cares. But I care. I love being barefoot 99% of the time, and am working toward doing it more.

I can work on Marble Track 3 or not; no one cares. But I care! I love the project; I love talking about it, I love its steady progress building up to something over time. I love the ridiculousness of it; I love people’s incredulous reactions when I say 1 second of video took 2 hours to make (and it’s going to be a lot higher, tbh.. 2 hours per second is just for a silent video!)

I can stop doing workshops and no one cares.. But I care! I did the eye gazing workshop and it was great!

For some reason I have had (and still have) this fear that I cannot do anything different from what I have been doing before, but this is simply not true! How untrue is it?

Just this past weekend I did stand a few minutes of up comedy for the first time (with no prior practice nor planning) and it was fine; it was easier than I expected. I could do that, (or not, and no one cares,) but I don’t want to do that.

I want to put together a Silent Football game, though Rin has recommended I focus on my Barefoot Rob brand first, but I don’t wanna! What should I do? ergg this is so confusing.

Instead of being frustrated, can I instead see the steading progress forward like on Marble Track 3?

This is an age-old question, and the answer seems to be it does not really matter; just do what I want to do!

Helping people see past lives?

Past Lives Glasgow,KY Michael Vines Flickr files

I put a question mark on the title because I cannot really prove the visions are related to past lives, but this is a fun way to guide people through a process to see what could be their past lives.

Each participant gets into a relaxed position, usually either
sitting in a chair, or laying down, or otherwise sitting against
something comfortable.

Spend a few minutes leading the participants through a relaxation
process, whereby they let their bodies relax and keep their minds
awake. Once they are in this mind awake / body asleep mode,
invite them to imagine getting up and leaving the room. Guide
them to imagine traveling far away, whether by vehicle, or through
a cave, or through a forest, or by any other means which takes
them from the familiar, to the unfamiliar, and guide them to
arrive somewhere new, yet familiar.

Give the participants a chance to explore the familiar area,
including seeing other inhabitants of the area and moving around
and communicating with them.

Once they have explored the area, lead the participants gently
back the way they came, allowing them to have a clear memory of
what happened and what they heard and saw. (say things like
"coming back slowly, you clearly remember what you experienced,"
etc) Once their awareness focuses back on their physical bodies,
give them a chance to write down what they experienced. Do not
speak until everyone is pretty much done writing.

The whole process is a state of light hypnosis, and everyone will
still have full control and awareness of where their physical body
is. They will be able to come back in a moment's notice if they
choose.

Each process will take about 20 or 30 minutes.
